Hot Soy-Rubbed Tri-Tip Steak

May 8, 2018

May is National Beef Month, and we’re celebrating by teaming up with a few Hawaii companies to bring you a new recipe every week. This week, we have an easy grilling recipe featuring Kunoa tri-tip steak and sweet and robust seasoning from Da Kine Hawaiian that includes Kona coffee, which acts as a natural tenderizer.

If you’ve never cooked tri-tip steak, you’re missing out. This boneless triangular cut from the bottom of the sirloin is lean, tender, flavorful and relatively inexpensive. Also known as bottom sirloin steak or triangle steak, tri-tip steaks are often prepared with a marinade or spice rub then grilled or roasted.

Prep time: 35 minutes.

Kunoa Tri-Tip (about ½ lb. per person)
Da Kine Hawaiian Da Rub Original
Da Kine Hawaiian Hot Soy Sauce

Season tri-tip generously with Da Kine Hawaiian Original Rub.

Grill, covered, 25 to 35 minutes for medium rare (145°F) to medium (160°F) doneness, turning occasionally.

Remove meat from the grill, cover and let rest for 5 to 10 minutes.

Slice thinly across the grain and serve with Da Kine Hawaiian Hot Soy Sauce as a spicy dipping sauce.
